Yes. All anglers 16 and older must purchase an Alaska state sport fishing license. If targeting King Salmon, a King Salmon stamp is required. Licenses and stamps can be purchased online via the ADF&G website.

Per ADF&G North Gulf Coast sport fishing regulations and NOAA federal rules:

• Halibut: Managed by NOAA federal charter rules (typically 1–2 fish per day depending on current annual charter restrictions, size limits, and weekly closure days).
• Salmon:
  • Resurrection Bay (Inside): 6 Silver (Coho) Salmon per day.
  • Outside Resurrection Bay: 3 Silver (Coho) Salmon per day.
  • King (Chinook) Salmon: 1 to 2 per day depending on area and season.
• Rockfish (Total limit of 3 per day / 6 in possession):
  • Pelagic Rockfish (Black, Dark, Dusky): 2 per day, 4 in possession.
  • Non-Pelagic Rockfish (Yelloweye, Quillback, Copper): 1 per day, 2 in possession. (Note: ADF&G emergency orders close retention of Yelloweye Rockfish annually from April 1 through June 30 to protect breeding stocks).

Yes. Under federal regulations (NOAA Area 3A), halibut retention is closed on certain weekdays (typically Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the season). On these days, we run exciting Multi-Species non-halibut trips targeting Silver Salmon, King Salmon, Rockfish, and Lingcod when these species are in season and allowed by bag limits.

Guided Angler Fish (GAF) is a federal program that allows charter anglers in Area 3A to catch and retain an additional or larger halibut beyond standard charter limits by leasing commercial quota. GAF permits can also be used to retain halibut on federal weekly closure days. Ask us when booking if you are interested in GAF availability and pricing.

Halibut are available throughout our season from May through September. Peak halibut fishing runs from mid-June through August, when fish move into feeder areas in large numbers.

Silver Salmon start showing up in early July in outer waters, with prime fishing building through mid-July and August inside Resurrection Bay.

Absolutely! Our full-day Multi-Species Combination Trips are specifically designed to target both halibut and salmon, as well as rockfish and lingcod.

Beyond halibut and salmon, anglers can target Black Rockfish, Pacific Cod, Lingcod (season opens July 1st), and Yelloweye Rockfish (season opens July 1st following the seasonal ADF&G closure).

Dress in synthetic layers (a thermal base, warm fleece or hoodie) topped with 100% waterproof outerwear (rain jacket and pants). Wear warm socks, a beanie, and non-slip rubber boots or deck shoes. Our vessels feature comfortable heated cabins, but you'll want solid gear when out on the deck!

We provide water and soft drinks onboard. Please bring your own lunch, hearty snacks, and any specialty drinks in a small bag or soft cooler.

Beer and wine are permitted in moderation for guests 21 and older. Hard liquor and glass bottles are strictly prohibited on all Blue Ice vessels.

We recommend taking over-the-counter motion sickness medication (such as Dramamine or Bonine) the night before your trip AND one hour before boarding. Medication taken after you feel sick on the water is rarely effective.

Yes! It's a classic maritime tradition, and we strictly enforce a no-bananas policy on board for good luck and great fishing!

We operate both 6-pack vessels (for smaller, intimate groups) and a larger 12-pack vessel (The Snowbird) that is USCG-inspected to accommodate larger groups and private parties of up to 18 people. All vessels are fast, comfortable, and equipped with enclosed heated cabins, state-of-the-art electronics, and private marine restrooms.

Full-day trips typically depart early at 6:00 AM. Check-in is generally 15–30 minutes prior to departure at our dock location in the Seward Small Boat Harbor.

Distance depends on target species and ocean conditions. We travel anywhere from 15 to 80 miles offshore into Resurrection Bay, Montague Island, or the Gulf of Alaska to reach the most productive fishing grounds.

Yes, every Blue Ice vessel is equipped with a private, fully enclosed marine toilet (head) for your comfort.

Yes! On the boat ride back into port, our deckhands bleed, clean, fillet, and bag your fish as part of our standard charter service.

We partner directly with J-Dock Seafood Company right at the harbor. Once we dock, your filleted catch is handed off to J-Dock, where they custom portion, commercial vacuum-seal, flash-freeze at -20°F, and pack your fish in insulated airline-approved travel boxes or arrange overnight FedEx air freight shipping directly to your home on the date you choose.

We provide top-of-the-line rods, high-end reels, terminal tackle, lures, and fresh bait. You don't need to bring any of your own fishing gear!

Safety is our top priority. If the captain deems marine conditions unsafe to depart port, you will receive a 100% refund or the option to reschedule for another available date.
